The most common used Ford models are the Focus (Mk2, Mk3, Mk4) and Fiesta (Mk6, Mk7, Mk8), followed by the family-friendly Mondeo and the Kuga SUV. Older years often feature 1.6 TDCi and 1.8 TDCi diesel engines, as well as naturally aspirated 1.4 and 1.6 petrol engines. Newer models bring the 1.0 EcoBoost turbo petrol and 1.5 TDCi diesel engines.
The 1.0 EcoBoost engine (3-cylinder turbo) in Focus and Fiesta models has a history of issues with the engine cooling system and oil consumption in early generations (2012–2014) — check whether any recall service has been carried out. In 1.6 TDCi engines, turbocharger and DPF issues are common on vehicles used mostly for short city trips. The PowerShift dual-clutch automatic gearbox in Focus and Kuga models has not been particularly reliable and is best avoided, especially on 2011–2016 model years.
Used Ford cars are most often priced between 2.000 and 13.000 EUR. Older Focus and Fiesta models can be found from 2.500 EUR, newer generations usually range from 5.000–10.000 EUR, while Kuga and Mondeo start from 6.000 to 13.000 EUR depending on year and equipment. Ford’s service network in Montenegro is well developed, and parts are affordable even from independent suppliers.
Among the most reliable used Ford models are the Focus Mk3 with 1.6 TDCi (from 2014) and the Fiesta Mk7 with the naturally aspirated 1.25 petrol engine. The Mondeo Mk4 and Mk5 with the 2.0 TDCi engine are also solid choices with regular maintenance.
Ford sits in the mid-range for maintenance costs. A regular service costs 80–170 EUR, and spare parts are easily available through the Ford network and independent suppliers. Larger repairs (turbo, DPF, PowerShift gearbox) can cost 700–2.000 EUR.
Check the service history, the condition of the turbocharger and DPF filter on TDCi engines, oil consumption on 1.0 EcoBoost engines, and the behaviour of PowerShift automatics on models that have them. A diagnostic check at a specialized Ford service center is recommended before purchase.
