The used Opel offer is dominated by Astra (H, J and K generations), Corsa (D, E and F) and Insignia A. Among SUV models, Mokka and Crossland X are increasingly common. Older model years are mostly 1.7 CDTI and 1.3 CDTI diesel engines (of Isuzu and Fiat origin), while newer years bring 1.4 turbo petrol engines and 1.6 CDTI units.
With 1.3 CDTI engines, a common issue is wear of the turbocharger and clogging of the EGR valve, so be sure to check the service history and engine behavior on a test drive. Astra J and Insignia A are known for corrosion under the sills and around the rear wheel arches, which you should definitely inspect. The Easytronic automated gearbox in the older Astra H is best avoided because repairs are expensive; manual gearboxes are the more reliable choice.
Used Opel cars are typically priced between 2,500 and 12,000 EUR. Older Astra and Corsa models (up to 2012) are most often offered from 2,500 to 5,000 EUR, newer Astra J models from 5,000 to 9,000 EUR, while Insignia and Mokka can exceed 10,000 EUR for examples with lower mileage.
