The Caddy is produced as a closed cargo version (Cargo) and as the passenger Caddy Life. The passenger version comes in standard and extended Maxi form with five or seven seats. Sliding side doors and a large load space make it practical for small business owners, tradespeople and families with lots of gear. New generations are based on the MQB platform, bringing better equipment, more modern assistance systems and a more comfortable ride.
The most common engines are the 1.6 and 2.0 TDI diesel units, which offer a good balance of power and fuel economy. Petrol 1.2 and 1.4 TSI versions are less sought after on the used market. A Caddy with a diesel engine uses around 5.5 to 7 litres per 100 km in mixed driving. Caddy Cargo is the cargo version with a separate load area, no rear seats and no windows. Caddy Life is the passenger version with a rear bench and windows, also available as a seven-seater in the Maxi version.
