Toyota HSD Technology

Hybrid Synergy Drive combines a petrol engine with the Atkinson cycle, two electric motors (MG1 and MG2) and a compact NiMH or Li-Ion battery through a carefully balanced planetary transmission (e-CVT). The system does not require external charging — the battery charges only while driving and during regenerative braking. It is available in Prius, Yaris Hybrid, Corolla Hybrid, C-HR Hybrid, RAV4 Hybrid, Camry Hybrid and Highlander Hybrid models.

HSD System Reliability

Toyota hybrid technology is known as one of the most reliable on the market. Original Prius models regularly exceed 400,000–500,000 km without battery replacement, and taxi drivers across Europe use Prius and Auris Hybrid with over 700,000 km. Fewer moving parts (no conventional gearbox, alternator or starter) significantly reduce maintenance costs. Brake discs last twice as long as in conventional cars thanks to regenerative braking.

Toyota Hybrid on the Montenegro Market

Toyota hybrids are increasingly dominating Toyota’s lineup in Montenegro. Corolla Hybrid and C-HR Hybrid are the most popular models — a combination of low fuel consumption (around 4.5 l/100 km in combined driving), exceptional reliability and affordable maintenance. RAV4 Hybrid and Highlander Hybrid cover the SUV segment and offer AWD drive to the rear axle via an electric motor. The service network for Toyota hybrids is well developed in Podgorica.
