The Renault E-Tech hybrid system combines a 1.6 naturally aspirated petrol engine with two electric motors and a compact battery. The system uses a multi-mode clutchless gearbox, developed from Renault's Formula 1 experience. The E-Tech Hybrid 145 is available in Clio, Captur, Arkana and Megane models. The Plug-in Hybrid version with a 9.8 kWh battery allows up to 50 km of fully electric driving.
In city driving, the E-Tech Hybrid system mainly uses the electric motor, resulting in fuel consumption of 4–4.5 l/100 km. When starting off, the vehicle always moves on electric power, with no petrol consumption. The system does not require external charging (except for the PHEV version) and automatically manages energy depending on the driving mode.
Clio E-Tech and Captur E-Tech are popular choices for drivers who mostly drive in the city and want an economical solution without worrying about charging stations. The Renault Arkana E-Tech, a coupe-SUV in the mid-size class, is especially interesting on the Montenegrin market thanks to its blend of modern hybrid technology and attractive design. The service network for Renault hybrids is developed in Podgorica and the larger coastal cities.
The classic E-Tech Hybrid (145) does not require external charging — the battery is charged while driving, braking and running the engine. Only E-Tech Plug-in Hybrid versions (Megane, Captur PHEV) have a larger battery that can also be charged from a socket.
Renault offers an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty on the hybrid battery. In practice, the batteries in these compact hybrid systems are long-lasting and rarely need replacement during the first 200,000 km of driving.
The Arkana E-Tech offers the space of a mid-size SUV, economical hybrid technology and modern equipment at an affordable price. Thanks to low city consumption and comfortable ride quality, it is a popular choice among families in Montenegro.
