The Puma is based on the Ford Fiesta platform, but it is taller, wider, and has more ground clearance. The body is a five-door crossover with SUV styling. A standout feature is MegaBox — an additional 80-litre space under the boot floor that can be washed directly with water. Total boot capacity goes up to 456 litres, which is above the segment average.
The main engine is the 1.0 EcoBoost mHEV (mild hybrid) with 125 or 155 HP, using a 48V system to reduce fuel consumption. Non-hybrid 1.0 EcoBoost versions are also available, as well as a 1.5 EcoBlue diesel engine with 120 HP. The sporty Puma ST version offers the 1.5 EcoBoost with 200 HP. Average fuel consumption ranges from 5.5 to 7 l/100 km for petrol versions, while the diesel uses around 4.5–5.5 l/100 km.
As Puma is a relatively new model, most examples on the market are still under factory warranty or close to its expiry. Check the service history with an authorised Ford partner to preserve warranty validity. Test the SYNC 3 infotainment system and digital instrument cluster. On 1.0 EcoBoost engines, monitor the cooling system and oil condition, as well as timing belt replacement on older examples.
The Puma is classified as a small crossover or B-SUV. It has increased ground clearance and SUV-style bodywork, but it does not have all-wheel drive — all versions are front-wheel drive.
MegaBox is an additional waterproof 80-litre compartment located under the boot floor. It can be used to carry dirty or wet items and is easy to clean with water thanks to the drain valve at the bottom.
mHEV is a mild-hybrid system that uses a 48-volt starter-generator. The system cannot move the vehicle on its own, but it helps the engine during acceleration, enables regenerative braking, and reduces fuel consumption, especially in city driving.
