The first-generation 8U (2011–2018) is based on the VW Tiguan platform. The current F3 generation (from 2018) uses the MQB platform and offers a more spacious interior, a virtual cockpit, and more advanced driver-assistance systems. The F3 Sportback version has a coupe-style roofline and a slightly sportier look. The RS Q3 is a high-performance version with a 2.5 TFSI five-cylinder engine.

The 1.5 TFSI and 2.0 TFSI petrol engines offer consumption of 6–8 l/100 km. quattro drive is available as an option — recommended for drivers who use the vehicle off the main roads and in winter conditions. The current F3 generation also offers a plug-in hybrid 45 TFSI e variant.
For the 8U generation with the 2.0 TDI EA189 engine, check whether the technical modification has been carried out. The S tronic DSG gearbox requires an oil change every 60,000 km. Check the condition of the DPF filter, EGR valve, and turbocharger on diesel versions. A service history from an authorized service center and a CARFAX report for imported vehicles are important for a safe purchase.
The Q3 offers 530–675 liters of trunk space (depending on the generation and rear seat position) and roomy rear seats for the compact SUV segment. It is enough for a family with two children. If you need more space, the next step up is the Audi Q5.
For lower fuel costs and higher annual mileage, the 2.0 TDI (150 HP) is recommended, with consumption of around 5–6 l/100 km. For mostly city driving, the 1.5 TFSI is simpler to maintain. quattro drive is a worthwhile addition if you drive in winter conditions.
