Škoda TSI Engines

The most common TSI engines in the Škoda range are the 1.0 TSI (95/110/115 HP) and 1.5 TSI (130/150 HP). The 1.0 TSI is found in the Fabia, Scala, Kamiq and Octavia, while the 1.5 TSI is available in the Octavia, Karoq and Superb. The more powerful sporty versions, Octavia RS and Kodiaq RS, use the 2.0 TSI (245 HP). Most TSI engines come with a 7-speed DSG gearbox and optional 4x4 drive for SUV variants.

What to Look for When Buying

When buying used TSI engines, pay attention to oil consumption — earlier 1.4 TSI generations (EA111 up to 2012) had issues with timing chain stretch and oil consumption. Newer EA211 generations (from 2012) are significantly more reliable. Check whether the oil has been changed every 15,000 km and the DSG gearbox oil as well. The high-pressure fuel pump and PCV valve may sometimes need replacement after 150,000 km.

Škoda Petrol on the Montenegro Market

Octavia TSI and Fabia TSI are a popular choice among families in Montenegro thanks to their combination of space, equipment and affordable pricing. The Octavia with the 1.5 TSI engine offers a balance between performance and fuel consumption, with an average of 6 l/100 km in mixed driving. The Scala and Kamiq with the 1.0 TSI are suitable for city use. Prices for used Škoda TSI models aged 3–5 years range from 12,000 to 25,000 EUR depending on model and equipment.
