Construction equipment includes tracked machines and mini excavators, hydraulic excavators, front loaders, backhoe loaders (excavator-loaders), graders, rollers, dumpers, forklifts and other specialized machines. The most common brands are Caterpillar, Komatsu, JCB, Volvo CE, Hitachi, Hyundai CE, Liebherr, Bobcat and Kubota. Weights range from 1.5 tons for mini excavators to over 30 tons for large tracked machines.
Construction machinery is used in construction, road building, mining, forestry and коммунal services. In Montenegro it is heavily used on major infrastructure projects in the north (highway), along the coast and in the reconstruction of tourist facilities. Mini excavators and backhoe loaders are popular with smaller contractors and коммунal companies. Rollers are used for asphalt and earthworks.
When buying used construction equipment, check the operating hours, the condition of the hydraulic system, the engine, oil in the reduction units, and the condition of the tracks or tires. Pay attention to oil leaks, the condition of the bucket, hydraulic cylinders and working hydraulics. Machines with a full service history and original parts have a longer service life. Prices for used construction equipment vary widely — a mini excavator can cost from EUR 7,000, while larger machines with low hours can exceed EUR 100,000.
For excavators and loaders with up to 6,000 operating hours, the machine is considered moderately used if it has been serviced regularly. Machines with over 10,000 hours can still be reliable if they have been maintained properly, but a detailed inspection before purchase becomes even more important.
Machines that travel on public roads must be registered and have the proper lights and markings. Machines that operate exclusively within a construction site do not require regular registration, but transport to the site must comply with the rules.
Prices vary widely depending on the type and condition. A 3-ton mini excavator costs from EUR 7,000 to EUR 25,000, a backhoe loader from EUR 15,000 to EUR 45,000, and a medium hydraulic excavator from EUR 30,000 to EUR 100,000.
