The first-generation 208 (2012–2019) was based on the PSA PF1 platform and received a facelift in 2015 with new engines and trim packages. The second generation (from 2019) moved to the CMP platform shared with the Opel Corsa F and Citroën C3 Aircross, and is also offered as a fully electric e-208. The Peugeot 208 stands out with its distinctive i-Cockpit layout, featuring a small steering wheel and elevated instruments.
The most common petrol engines are the 1.2 PureTech units (naturally aspirated and turbo versions with 100 and 130 HP), as well as earlier 1.4 and 1.6 engines. Diesel options include 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6 HDi/BlueHDi engines. In mixed driving, the turbo 1.2 PureTech consumes around 5 to 6 liters per 100 km. Look for service history, especially on 1.2 PureTech engines where the wet timing belt required shorter replacement intervals on earlier examples. Check regular oil changes and, if available, documentation for timing belt replacement. Inspect the bodywork and mechanical components. For the e-208, check battery condition, number of charging cycles, and whether the vehicle is still within the battery warranty period.
