Generations and Evolution

The second generation (J11, 2014–2021) is the most common on Montenegro’s used-car market. The third generation (J12, 2021–) brings the new CMF-CD platform, a more modern design and the hybrid e-Power drivetrain. The Qashqai offers a spacious cabin, a good equipment level and a boot of around 504 litres, making it a practical family choice.

Engines and Drivetrain

Available engines include 1.2 and 1.3 DIG-T petrol units, 1.5 and 1.6 dCi diesels, and the new 1.5 e-Power hybrid system. The 1.5 dCi diesel is popular for its low fuel consumption of around 4.5–5.5 l/100 km. Gearboxes include a six-speed manual, CVT (Xtronic) and dual-clutch DCT. AWD is available on certain second-generation variants.

What to Look Out For

With the 1.5 dCi engine, check the condition of the EGR valve and DPF filter, especially if the vehicle has mainly been used in city driving. With the CVT gearbox, listen for smooth operation and look for proof of regular ATF oil changes at the recommended intervals. Inspect the front suspension joints on older examples. The Qashqai generally holds strong residual value in Montenegro.
