Why LPG in Montenegro

In Montenegro, auto gas is usually around 50% cheaper than petrol, which means serious savings for drivers who cover more than 15,000 km per year. An LPG system does not replace the petrol system — the vehicle can still run on both fuels, which increases overall range. LPG is a popular solution for older petrol engines in the 1.4–2.0 l range.

Installation, certification and registration

Installation must be carried out by an authorized service, and the system is inspected and entered into the registration document. The cost of installation in Montenegro is roughly between EUR 400 and 800, depending on the number of cylinders and the tank type (torus tank in the spare wheel well or cylindrical tank in the trunk). The inspection is renewed periodically, and the tank has a limited service life — usually 10 years.

Most common problems and maintenance

Cars running on LPG typically need spark plugs and valves replaced more often (because of higher operating temperatures), so regular servicing becomes even more important than for a pure petrol car. Check whether the vehicle has compatible valve seats (FlashLube or factory-supported LPG operation). When buying, ask for a valid LPG system inspection certificate and service history for the tank and valves.
