When buying a used diesel car, it is important to check the condition of the DPF filter (particulate filter), as replacement can be expensive. Pay attention to the service history — regular oil and filter changes are key to the longevity of a diesel engine. Check whether the EGR valve is in good working order and whether the turbocharger is running without oil leaks or unusual noises. For high-mileage vehicles, injector condition should also be inspected.
