The third generation (RE, 2007–2012), fourth generation (RM, 2012–2017) and fifth generation (RW, 2017–2022) are the most common on the used market. The sixth generation (RS, 2023–) brings a refreshed design, the e:HEV hybrid system and a more spacious cabin. The CR-V offers a large boot (around 561–589 litres) and a high driving position.
The lineup includes naturally aspirated 2.0 and 2.4 i-VTEC petrol engines, 1.5 and 1.6 i-DTEC diesel engines (the 1.6 in 120 HP and 160 HP versions), as well as the 1.5 VTEC TURBO petrol engine. The fifth and sixth generations also offer the 2.0 i-MMD hybrid system, which returns around 5–6 l/100 km in combined driving. Drivetrain is either front-wheel drive or AWD Real Time 4WD, which is useful for Montenegro's mountain roads.
The CR-V has a very good reputation for reliability, but it is still worth checking the service history. For 1.6 i-DTEC engines, pay attention to the condition of the DPF filter and EGR valve. For the 1.5 VTEC TURBO engine, there were reports of fuel and oil mixing in certain driving conditions — check whether the necessary software updates have been carried out. On hybrid models, regular battery and software checks are important.
Certain generations and markets offered a seven-seat version of the CR-V. In Europe, the five-seat configuration is the most common, while the seven-seat version is more frequent in markets outside the EU.
The 1.6 i-DTEC diesel delivers fuel consumption of around 5–6 l/100 km. The 2.0 i-MMD hybrid system in the fifth and sixth generations achieves similar consumption and has the advantage of quiet city driving.
