Among the most sought-after BYD models in Europe are the Atto 3, a compact electric SUV, and the Seal, a sporty electric sedan that competes with the Tesla Model 3. The Dolphin is a smaller city hatchback at a more affordable price, while the Tang offers seven seats in a premium SUV format. The plug-in hybrid Seal U DM-i and Han combine long electric range with a petrol engine.
BYD uses its own Blade battery based on LFP (lithium iron phosphate) chemistry. This technology offers high thermal stability, long service life and a lower risk of thermal runaway compared with NMC batteries. Most BYD models support fast DC charging up to 80 kW and more, with a factory battery warranty of 8 years or 200,000 km.
BYD has only recently started appearing in listings in Montenegro, most often through imports from Germany, the Netherlands and Austria. The BYD service network is gradually developing in the region, and basic maintenance is simpler than with internal combustion vehicles. When buying, check whether the factory warranty is transferable and the status of the remaining battery capacity.
Blade is BYD's patented battery based on LFP (lithium iron phosphate) chemistry. It has a long cell format that saves space and provides high thermal stability, reducing the risk of fire. Its lifespan is usually longer than NMC batteries.
The BYD Atto 3 offers a WLTP range of around 420 km with a 60 kWh battery. The BYD Seal, depending on the version, has a range of 460 to 570 km. In real-world conditions, achieved range is usually 15–20% lower than the WLTP figures.
BYD is gradually building a service network in the region. At the moment, servicing is most often carried out by specialized electric vehicle workshops in Podgorica and abroad. Basic EV maintenance is simpler than for conventional cars due to fewer moving parts.
