On the Montenegro market, the most common generations are W203 (2000–2007), W204 (2007–2014), W205 (2014–2021) and the current W206 (2021–present). The T-Model (estate) has steady demand, while Coupé and Cabrio versions are positioned in a higher segment. AMG Line equipment holds its value better.
Check the service history and vehicle origin. On OM651 diesel engines, earlier examples had issues with balance shafts and Delphi injectors. On M271 and M274 petrol engines, pay attention to the timing chain. Check the condition of the 7G-Tronic or 9G-Tronic gearbox and the 4MATIC system on 4x4 versions. The AIRMATIC suspension on better-equipped models should be checked with diagnostics.
Used C-Class prices range from around 4,000 EUR for W203 models to over 45,000 EUR for newer W206 cars. The most sought-after examples have the C 220 d engine, automatic transmission and AMG Line trim. The T-Model is more popular for family use thanks to its larger cargo space.
The W204 facelift (2011–2014) and W205 facelift (2018–2021) are generally considered the most reliable with regular maintenance. The older W203 can be an affordable choice, but it requires careful inspection for rust and electronics.
Routine service (oil, filters, brakes) for the C-Class costs about 250 to 500 EUR per year. Bigger jobs, such as automatic transmission service or injector replacement, can cost 500–1,500 EUR. Service at independent specialists is usually cheaper than at an authorized dealer network.
4MATIC is useful in winter conditions and on Montenegro’s mountain roads, but it comes with slightly higher fuel consumption and more complex maintenance. For coastal areas, rear-wheel drive (RWD) is usually enough.
