The most sought-after Seat models on the Montenegrin market are Leon and Ibiza in the compact and city-car segments, as well as Ateca and Arona in the SUV segment. Leon is technically close to the Volkswagen Golf and Škoda Octavia, but offers a sportier design and lower prices. Tarraco is a larger family SUV with a seven-seat configuration. Older Seat Toledo and Altea models are still present on the used market.
Seat uses the same engines as Volkswagen and Škoda — TSI turbo-petrol (1.0, 1.5, 2.0) and TDI diesel engines (1.6, 2.0). The 1.6 TDI and 2.0 TDI are known for low fuel consumption, while TSI engines offer a good balance of performance and economy. Gearboxes include manual 5/6-speed and automatic DSG. Sporty Cupra models (Leon Cupra, Ateca Cupra) offer more powerful performance.
When buying a used Seat, the approach is similar to other VW Group vehicles — check the service history, regular oil changes on TSI engines, and DSG gearbox oil changes. On older TDI engines (especially the 1.6 TDI from the Dieselgate era), it is important that the software update has been done. Spare parts for Seat are easily available and compatible with Volkswagen, Audi and Škoda parts.
Leon and Ibiza are the best-selling models. Leon is especially popular as an alternative to the Volkswagen Golf at a slightly lower price. Ateca and Arona stand out in the SUV segment, while Toledo and Altea are common on the used market.
Seat shares platforms, engines and many components with Volkswagen, Audi and Škoda (all within the VW Group). The difference is in design (Seat is sportier), equipment and price — Seat is usually 5–10% cheaper than the equivalent Volkswagen while offering the same technical characteristics.
Cupra is Seat's sporty sub-brand, which has operated as an independent brand since 2018. Cupra models (such as Leon Cupra, Ateca Cupra and Cupra Formentor) offer more powerful engines, sport-tuned suspension and a more aggressive design compared to classic Seat models.
Seat is in the mid-range when it comes to maintenance costs. Regular servicing for a Leon or Ibiza costs between 120 and 260 euros. Spare parts are affordable — VW, Audi or Škoda parts can be used for most components.
