What Defines a Wagon Body Style
A station wagon, also called an estate car, keeps the same mechanical platform as the corresponding sedan but adds an extended roof and a larger cargo area with a tailgate. Trunk capacity usually ranges from 500 to over 1,800 litres with the rear seats folded. Station wagons offer better aerodynamics and lower fuel consumption than similar SUV models. Powertrains include petrol, diesel, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid engines, with front-wheel drive or AWD.
