The most recognizable Dodge models are Challenger and Charger, sporty vehicles with HEMI V8 engines and a distinctive retro design. Caliber, a compact hatchback/crossover, was popular on the European market in the mid-2000s. Nitro SUV and Journey minivan come with gasoline and CRD diesel engines. Dodge Avenger is a mid-size sedan with a more affordable price.
For Challenger and Charger models with V8 HEMI engines, pay attention to service history and potential issues with the MDS system (cylinder deactivation). Check the condition of the automatic transmission, which carries a significant load in powerful versions. Mercedes-sourced CRD diesel engines are reliable with regular servicing. Check the vehicle’s origin — many examples were imported from the USA and differ in equipment and emissions standards.
Dodge in Montenegro is a niche driven by American-car enthusiasts. Fuel costs and registration for V8 models are significant, so many owners use them as secondary or recreational vehicles. Parts are most often ordered from the USA or Germany, where there is a well-developed network for American vehicles. Caliber and Journey are more practical for everyday use with lower fuel consumption.
A Dodge Challenger with a 5.7 HEMI V8 engine consumes on average 13–17 l/100 km in combined driving. More powerful SRT and Hellcat versions with a supercharger can consume over 20 l/100 km in dynamic driving.
Routine maintenance (oil, filters) is in line with other premium brands. Major repairs can be expensive because of the price of original parts and the need to order them from abroad. Specialized workshops for American vehicles are rare but available.
Registration depends on engine displacement and emissions class. For V8 engines, registration is significantly more expensive than for smaller-displacement cars — annually it can amount to between EUR 500 and EUR 1,000 with all fees included, depending on the vehicle’s age.
