In this price range, Toyota most often comes with 1.0 VVT-i, 1.3 VVT-i and 1.6 VVT-i petrol engines, as well as 1.4 D-4D and 2.0 D-4D diesel units. VVT-i petrol engines are known for exceptional reliability — they often exceed 300,000 km with regular servicing. D-4D diesels are economical, with average consumption of 5 to 6 litres per 100 km. Toyota is generally one of the most reliable brands in this price range.
Toyota cars are known for reliability, but on older models pay attention to corrosion, especially on the sills and door frames. For 1.4 D-4D engines, check the injectors and high-pressure pump. Review the service book and proof of regular oil changes. Toyota engines work well with quality mineral and synthetic oils as long as servicing is done on time.
Toyota engines, especially VVT-i petrol units, are known for their simple construction and long service life. Regular maintenance and quality oil allow them to go beyond 300,000 km without major engine repairs.
A Toyota Yaris with a 1.0 or 1.3 VVT-i engine consumes 5 to 6 litres per 100 km. Versions with the 1.4 D-4D diesel engine average 4.5 to 5.5 litres per 100 km, making them ideal for drivers with higher annual mileage.
Original Toyota parts are somewhat more expensive than parts for European brands, but due to the low number of breakdowns, overall maintenance costs remain competitive. Aftermarket parts for popular models such as the Yaris and Corolla are easy to find.
