In this price range, the most common Renault models are Clio (3rd and 4th generations), Megane (2nd and 3rd generations), Scenic and Kangoo. Clio is a popular city hatchback with economical engines. Megane is a common choice as a compact family car. Scenic and Grand Scenic offer more space for families and come with 5 or 7 seats. Renault cars in this segment most often come with 1.2 16V and 1.6 16V petrol engines, as well as the 1.5 dCi diesel engine. The small dCi engine is known for low fuel consumption of 4 to 5 liters per 100 km, making it highly cost-effective for long trips. Petrol 1.2 and 1.6 engines consume 6 to 7.5 liters. With dCi engines, pay attention to the condition of the particulate filter and the high-pressure pump, as servicing these components is more expensive.
Renault vehicles in this segment require a thorough electronics check, especially the BCM module (Body Control Module) and the central locking system. For models with the 1.5 dCi engine, be sure to check the condition of the injectors and whether the oil has been changed regularly.
