The X6 was the first SAC model, introduced in 2008 as the E71. The F16 generation (2014–2019) kept the recognizable design and improved the hardware, while the current G06 (from 2019) brings more advanced driver assistance systems, a hybrid xDrive40e version and a larger boot capacity. All generations feature standard xDrive all-wheel drive.
The most sought-after versions in Montenegro are the xDrive30d (245–286 HP) and xDrive40d (313–340 HP) with inline-six diesel engines. The petrol xDrive40i uses the B58 engine, while the M50i offers a V8 with 530 HP. M Performance versions like X6 M50d and X6 M deliver over 400 HP and a sportier character. The plug-in hybrid xDrive40e/45e is available in newer generations.
The X6 shares its platform and mechanical components with the X5, so the same inspection principles apply. Check the air suspension, EGR system and the ZF8HP automatic gearbox. The coupe roofline reduces headroom in the second row — make sure it is sufficient for taller passengers. For imported vehicles, a CARFAX/AutoDNA report and origin check are recommended.
The X5 has a classic SUV roofline, more headroom in the second row and a larger boot (650 vs 580 litres in the X6). The X6 has a coupe roofline that gives it a sportier look, but reduces practicality. The mechanicals, engines and drivetrains are identical.
The X6 is primarily focused on design and sporty styling, but it remains practical enough for everyday use. The 580-litre boot meets the needs of most families. Taller passengers in the second row may feel less headroom because of the coupe roofline.
The xDrive30d averages 7–9 l/100 km, the xDrive40d 8–10 l/100 km, while the petrol V8 M50i consumes 12–15 l/100 km. Hybrid versions in newer generations can significantly reduce fuel consumption in city driving.
