The most common options are the A4 B8 (2008–2015) with the 2.0 TDI CR engine and the A6 C7 (2011–2018) with 2.0 TDI and 3.0 TDI variants. The A3 8V (2012–2020) is a popular compact choice with a modern infotainment system. The first-generation Q5 (2008–2016) and Q3 (2011–2018) are the most frequent SUV picks. Sportback and Avant versions offer extra practicality with the same driving feel.
The common-rail 2.0 TDI engine (CAGA, CAGB, CGLC) is significantly improved compared with the PD generation, but check the injectors and EGR system. For S tronic (DSG) gearboxes, the DQ250 (wet) and DQ200 (dry) units require regular servicing. The Multitronic CVT gearbox in the A4 B8 and A6 C7 can still be problematic — prefer manual or Tiptronic. Check the MMI system, virtual cockpit electronics (on the A4 B9), and whether all software updates have been completed.
Audi vehicles in this price range are newer and require modern diagnostics (ODIS). Several specialized VAG сервисes in Podgorica and Nikšić are equipped to work on newer models. Parts are affordable thanks to shared VAG components. An authorised dealer warranty can add value to a vehicle older than 7 years.
The 2.0 TDI CR (common-rail) from the EA288 generation (from 2013) is significantly improved compared with the PD version and does not have injector-pump issues. The 3.0 TDI with quattro is also a proven engine with regular maintenance.
The Q5 (8R) is generally reliable with regular maintenance. Check the Haldex clutch condition (oil change every 60,000 km), possible oil consumption on early CAEB engines, and the condition of the S tronic gearbox. Facelifted versions from 2012+ are generally improved.
The B8 (up to 2015) is proven and cheaper to maintain, with more readily available parts. The early B9 generation (2015+) offers a more modern infotainment solution (MMI Touch), better efficiency and new safety systems. B9 usually comes with roughly half the mileage for the same price.
